City hosts 9/11 ceremony on FridayThe City of Peachtree City will hold a Sept. 11 remembrance near the VFW Memorial in City Hall Plaza Friday at 8 a.m. The city staff and the public are invited to attend. The brief service will include a morning flag ceremony conducted by the citys police department honor guard. The city police and fire departments will present a memorial wreath that will remain at the VFW Memorial for the entire day and on the 11th. Senior Pastor John Weber from Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will offer a remembrance prayer. The service is in honor of those killed on Sept. 11, 2001, when terrorist attacks claimed more than 3,000 lives in Washington, New York and Pennsylvania. The National Anthem will be played to honor the memory of what many consider the first casualties in the on-going War on Terrorism. The fire department will conclude the service when they perform the five-bell ceremony, signifying the last call for firefighters who have died in service.
