Volleyball teams nab more wins last weekThe Sandy Creek Lady Patriots volleyball team traveled to Henry County for three matches against Hardaway, Warner Robins, and Henry County. In the first match against Hardaway, Sandy Creek easily handled the Lady Hawks in the first game 25-8, struggled in the second game 23-25, and rallied in the last game to win the match 25-7. The Lady Patriots then defeated the Warner-Robbins Demonettes in two games 25-10 and 25-14.Ê And in the last match of the evening the Lady Patriots over-powered the Lady War Hawks 25-1 and 25-7.Ê The Lady Patriots were led by Courtney Bartlett with 13 aces and 36 assists, Alicen Lee with 21 kills, Sharlae Maldonado with 4 blocks and Kristen Burnett with 23 digs. The Starrs Mill Lady Panthers volleyball team traveled to Lovett on Thursday to face the Lady Lions who are ranked 10th in AA/A. The Lady Panthers came out playing strong and won 25-15 and 25-7. In the second match of the evening, the Lady Panthers squared off against Wheeler High School and dominated throughout with victories of 25-7 and 25-8. Niki Patriarca led the way with 24 assists while Shelley MacBean provided good all around play with eight kills, eight digs and three stuff blocks. Ê Kursten Carr and Kelley Elder each had five service aces. Lauren Gray and Kirstin Massmann also contributed good service help. Carr ended the night with nine kills. The Fayette County high school volleyball team improved their record to 12-4 last week with convincing victories over Creekside and Riverdale. Against Creekside, Brittany Wilson led the way with seven aces and seven kills, while Joanna Beck returned from her knee injury with four kills. Against Riverdale, Katie Bankeris had five aces and Britany Wilson racked up four more kills. The Tigers will be in action again tomorrow when they take on Eagles Landing and state ranked Sandy Creek at Eagles Landing High School.
