Foster selected as worship leader for Holy Cross churchMarilyn Joy Foster of Dalton has been named praise and worship leader for the Church of the Holy Cross, a new Charismatic Episcopal Church which will begin meeting this Saturday in Fayetteville. Dalton, originally from Griffin, is a music major graduate of Georgia College in Milledgeville and has done further studies at Rhema Bible College in Tulsa, Okla. She has taught music in the Bibb County and Spalding County public schools and is currently president of her own ministry organization, Strong Tower Ministries. She has spoken and ministered in music at conferences and churches in Kenya, Bulgaria, Norway, Ireland, Mexico, the United Kingdom and throughout the United States. She has written more than 300 praise and worship songs and has published six recordings and three CDs. In 1985, she was named one of Americas Outstanding Christian Women. Father Paul Massey, pastor of the new church, said the church will place major emphasis on joyous, spirit-led praise and worship, and added, Marilyn is the perfect person to lead us on that path. We are delighted and blessed to have her join us. The church of the Holy Cross will hold its first service this Saturday, Sept. 11, at 6 p.m. in the Fayettevilles Historic Train Depot, 250 Lanier Ave. East. The church will continue to meet each Saturday.
