Peachtree City architecture firm wins accoladesHistorical Concepts, a multi-discipline architectural firm, has garnered wide-spread recognition over the past two decades for its traditionally inspired designs. Most recently, the 25-person firm, based in Peachtree City, was awarded two prestigious Southern Home Awards by Southern Living magazine and the award-winning projects are featured in the September issue of the magazine. Historical Concepts is the first firm in the 16 year history of the award program to receive two awards in one year. The Southern Home Awards salute excellence in design, identifying the Souths best homes based on well-executed floor plans, innovative design solutions and attentiveness to architectural detailing. Historical Concepts also won Southern Home Awards in 2001 and 2002. In addition to the Southern Home Award, the firm has also received the following recognition in 2004: 2004 Palladio Award: New Residential Construction Under 5,000 s.f. The firm was selected for its design of a Greek-Revival inspired residence on Spring Island, South Carolina. Co-produced by Period Homes and Traditional Building magazines, The Palladio Awards Program honors outstanding achievement in traditional design. The program recognizes design teams whose work enhances the beauty and humane qualities of the built environment through creative interpretation or adaptation of design principles developed through 2,500 years of the Western architectural tradition. 2004 Grand Aurora Award: New Construction A beach house designed by the firm at WaterColor (Santa Rosa Beach, Florida) was selected for a Grand Aurora Award. The Aurora Award program is the premier building and design competition for builders, developers, planners, architects, interior merchandisers and other building-related professionals in the Southeastern United States and is held annually by the Florida Home Builders Association and the Southeast Building Conference. Previously, the same project won 6 APEX Awards, presented by the Building Industry Association of Okaloosa & Walton Counties, which qualified it for competition in the Aurora Awards. Publications The firms work has been featured in various magazines during the past year, including Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, Southern Living, Cottage Living, Coastal Living and HOME. In addition, the following recently published books have included homes designed by Historical Concepts: Cottages on the Coast by Linda Leigh Paul, Creating a New Old House by Russell Versaci and A House on the Water by Robert Knight. Historical Concepts design philosophy embraces classical scale and proportion, vernacular ideology and historical precedent, and its services include custom residential architecture, light commercial architecture and land planning. With a generalist approach to place-making, the firm uses historical towns and cities as inspiration and strives to create new projects that pay homage to existing historical precedent. This award-winning approach results in timeless designs that look and feel as though they have been part of any given setting for generations.
