DAR observes Constitution WeekBy CAROLYN CARY
The Fayette-Starrs Mill Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, has announced its activities for Constitution Week, Sept. 17-24. A display will be set up at the Tyrone Library for the month of September. Peachtree City Mayor Steve Brown will be signing a proclamation. A book on the Constitution will be donated to the library. Members will fly their flags Sept. 17 and ring a bell at 4 p.m. that day to commemorate the time the document was finalized. This date also marks the 217th anniversary of the 1787 Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. Georgia became the fourth state in the Union to ratify the Constitution, signed by Georgia delegates Abraham Baldwin and William Few, Jan. 2, 1788. For information about Constitution Week activities, call Regent Marilyn Frazar at 678-364-9397.
