Runners 2004 season underwayCross-country runners from all over the state will be competing in the Berry Invitational tomorrow. Our local cross-country teams got started last week in preparation for the first big meet of the season. McIntosh competed in a meet against Fayette County, Sandy Creek and Whitewater last Thursday. The girls placed first (20 points), followed by Fayette County (55), Sandy Creek (66) and Whitewater (111), while the boys placed second (40) behind Fayette County (29) and ahead of Sandy Creek (53) and Whitewater (120). The top runners for the McIntosh girls were Emily Borsare, first overall with a time of 19:08, followed by Olivia Tucker in third at 22:05 and senior captain Melissa Anderson in fourth place at 22:16. McIntoshs top three boys were Michael Mateos, second overall (17:40); Derek Hossbach, eighth (19:04); and Cormac Carolan, 9th (19:21). In the Alexander Early Bird Invitational, Landmarks boys placed sixth and the girls placed eighth, while Our Lady of Mercys boys placed seventh while the Lady Bobcats placed 11th. Top runners for Landmarks boys were Will Bonn, third (16:13); Chad Thames, 36th (17:46); and Michael Leonard, 43rd (18:02). Our Lady of Mercys top male runners were Zach Lethbridge, 32nd (17:41); Ryan Schilling, 33rd (17:42); and Pat Super, 41st (17:56). Top runners for Landmarks girls were Sarah Blanton, sixth (20:32); Katie Bulger, 22nd (21:47); and Caroline Jones, 26th (22:05). Our Lady of Mercys top female runners were Sam Jumper, 18th (21:35); Kelsey Oberst, 36th (22:37); and Savini Santha, 44th (23:00). Starrs Mills boys and girls competed in the Walton Stage Races. The girls placed 11th and the boys placed seventh. These teams will all be competing in the Berry Invitational tomorrow.
