College Park Festival to feature local artists, musicians and more

With the final schedule of musicians and performers finalized and the Artist’s Market and “Fine Cuisine” Court confirmed, College Park is awaiting the arrival of some 5,000 visitors for its 5th annual Arts Festival September 11. Centered on Rugby Avenue, the showpiece, tree-lined street at the heart of Georgia’s fourth largest residential historic district, the festival will also extend into the newly renovated Barrett Park, which was formally re-opened in the spring of this year.

Barrett Park will be home to the Festival Stage and the “Fine Cuisine” Court. The program schedule features a host of musical performances featuring some of Atlanta’s finest talent. A wide variety of culinary offerings will also be available from many of College Park’s local award winning restaurants, which have become a feature of the city’s recent renaissance over the last few years.

The park will also feature a play area for children, with organized activities, entertainment, creative crafts and games.

According to Carol Hendon, the chair of the Festival Organizing Committee, “The city is very excited about this year’s event. The festival is a wonderful opportunity for visitors from around the metropolitan area to see just what all the buzz about College Park is really about.”

The Artists Market at the festival’s centerpiece, will features local and regional artists displaying and selling their unique creations and showcasing original work in painting, sculpture, photography, glass, wood, jewelry and more.

College Park’s event also features a silent auction, which in the past has included diverse items contributed by its sponsors such as a pedigree Scottie pup, airline tickets, and one-of-a kind art pieces.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is free.
