City employees give to Red CrossMoney will help hurricane relief efforts in Florida Employees of Peachtree Citys Public Works Department have contributed $150 to help with hurricane relief efforts in Florida. Public Works Director Tom Corbett said the money was sent to the American Red Cross since thats one of the quickest ways to assist the agency which has provided food and shelter for thousands of persons whose homes were severely damaged or completely destroyed by Hurricane Charley. Corbett said the initiative to pass the hat was sparked by several employees who wanted to help with the relief effort out of compassion for the victims affected by the hurricane. While the donation may not be large in amount, it has meaning and will help the Red Cross in its mission in Florida, Corbett noted. To donate to the Red Cross relief efforts, visit www.redcross.org or call 1-800-435-7669. Financial donations can be made online, by phone and by mail. Persons can also donate in-kind products, spare change and airline miles. Thursday afternoon officials predicted a second hurricane, Frances, would hit the east coast of Florida sometime Saturday, packing more damage to the already weather-battered state.
