Fayetteville
Remembers Sept. 11 with Commemorative Concert
Free Concert Featuring T. Graham Brown at Villages Amphitheater
September 11 is a date that holds special meaning for all Americans.
The mere mention of 9/11 conjures up memories of remorse and
sadness. It also stirs our patriotic souls.
September 11 in Fayetteville will mark the end of a six-month
patriotic program entitled Fayetteville Celebrates America. The
city will terminate the vigil with a large concert and memorial
program at the Villages Amphitheater. Flags and banners will
line the perimeter of the amphitheater, officially marking the
end to the patriotic program.
The event is free and organizers are making plans for a capacity
crowd. Country artist T. Graham Brown will headline the event,
with a special appearance by radio personality Moby, who is now
hosting his own syndicated show. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. The
opening act, Assembly Required will go on at 7:30. A brief memorial
program will follow the opening band beginning at 8 p.m. T. Graham
Brown will take the stage at approximately 8:15. The concert
is sponsored by Georgia Power, the city of Fayetteville, Main
Street and Wal-Mart and The Bear radio station.
The September 11 concert will be the third free patriotic event
held at the Villages Amphitheater this season. The other two,
a Memorial Day tribute concert featuring the Atlanta Pops and
God and Country Night featuring local churches and a community
choir turned out capacity crowds.
In April, the Fayetteville City Council adopted a special ordinance
allowing patriotic banners and signs to fly throughout the City.
Lane Brown, chairman of the Fayetteville Celebrates America committee,
was the brainchild behind the special ordinance implemented by
council. He is also serving as chairman for the Sept. 11 event.
Following the concert, all specially permitted signs connected
to the Fayetteville Celebrates America ordinance will be required
to come down.
