SCAT swims to fifth place in states

With over 25 new team records and two state championship swims, the Southern Crescent Aquatic Team finished fifth out of 21 teams at the Long Course Senior State Championship meet.

Individual state champions were Billy Jamerson in the 100 meter breast stroke and Vincent Tortora in the 1,500 meter freestyle. A tremendous number of team records were set at the meet. Lauren Cartwright set seven new records, Brittany Stevens, three, Nicole Roddenbery, one, Jamerson, three, Noah Copeland, three, and Tortora established three.

Swimmers who finished with best times in all races were Katelyn Davis, Sarah Larson, David Menchinger, and Stevens. Swimmers placing in the top 10 for the team were Cartwright, Roddenbery, Stevens, Copeland, Jamerson, and Tortora. Other state qualifiers for SCAT included Mackenzie Garrot, Georgia Highsmith, Heather Jones, Chris Lee, Thomas Lucak, and Zach Payne.
