David Miller is new pastor at First Presbyterian in Peachtree CityDr. J. David Miller will assume duties as the new senior pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Peachtree City beginning in mid-September. Miller, a graduate of Miami University, holds a master of divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and a doctor of ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary. He was most recently senior pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Rapid City, S.D., where he was on staff for 11 years. Ordained in 1981, Miller also has served churches in Elyria, Ohio and Seminole, Fla. At First Presbyterian in Rapid City, Miller led the congregation in a study of The Purpose Driven Life, conducted traditional and contemporary worship services, and led a multiple member church staff. His ministry includes diversified programs attractive to a wide variety of people. Millers family includes his wife Kathy, a middle and high school English teacher who also holds a bachelors degree in Bible and a master of divinity in New Testament studies; son Tim, a senior at Seattle Pacific University; and daughter Beth, a freshman at Wheaton College. His interests include tennis, skiing and softball. First Presbyterian Church began in 1964 as Peachtree Citys first new church and now has some 870 members. Contemporary worship services are offered Sundays at 9:30 a.m., with traditional services at 11 a.m., and concurrent Sunday school. A congregational dinner and an extensive variety of classes and activities for children, youth, and adults are offered on Wednesday evenings. First Presbyterian also sponsors programs for all age groups, domestic and foreign missions trips, Bible study, Stephen Ministry, and small groups. Millers first Sunday in the pulpit will be Sept. 12.
