ObituariesW.A. Ballard W. A. Bud Ballard, 78, Fayetteville, died Aug. 23, 2004. He was born Jan. 20, 1926 in Fayette County, son of the late Clifford A. and Mamie Belle Mays Ballard. He was a member of Woolsey Baptist Church, where he had served as treasurer. He was a past master of the Davidson Masonic Lodge #334 F&AM. He had served as Superior Clerk of Court for Fayette County for 34 years. The flag outside the Fayette Justice Center was lowered in his memory, with roses placed at the door. His hobby was farming, and he lived on land that had been in the family since the mid 1800s. He was a descendant of veterans of both the American Revolutionary War and the War Between The States. Graveside services were at Woolsey Baptist Church with the Rev. Ed Lynch officiating. Survivors include his wife, Jo Crawley Ballard. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge. Doug Farr Doug Farr, 79, Peachtree City, died Aug. 23, 2004. He was born April 13, 1925 in Fayette County, to the late Henry Grady and Louise Jones Farr. Graveside services were at Sharon Memorial Gardens, Tyrone, with the Rev. Faren Roper officiating. Survivors include his wife, Frances Otwell Farr, Peachtree City; sons, Larry Farr, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Jim Wilson, Doraville; brothers, F. M. Farr, Fayetteville, and Eddie Farr, Newnan; sisters, Julie Brown, and Betty Barefoot, both of Fairburn, and Shirley Presley, Griffin; grandchildren, Susan Heizer, and Lisa McRae; and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hackett and Cassidy Hackett. Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge. Mary Theresa Judge Mary Theresa Judge, 68, Fayetteville, died Aug. 23, 2004. She was born Oct. 14, 1935 in Providence, R. I. Memorial services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with Jim Montgomery, American Legion Chaplain, Post 258, and Deacon William Hampton officiating. Survivors include her husband, C. J. Mike Judge, Fayetteville; sons, Michael Judge, Cape Cod, Maine, and Patrick Judge, Pompano Beach, Fla.; daughters, Kelly Galusha, Williamstown, Maine, Mari Verrochi, Fayetteville and Judy Phillips, Brewster, Cape Cod, Maine; and grandchildren, Katie, Ryan, Drew, John, Grace, Leanne, Dan, Emillie, Cassie and Ariel. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge. Richard Louis Morten Richard Louis Rick Morten, Master Sergeant, United States Army, 52, Fayetteville, died Aug. 23, 2004. He was born Feb. 14, 1952 in Burgen County, N. J. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Paul and Bernice Barre Morten. He served his country for over 20 years, in South Carolina, and Wisconsin. He was a 1978 graduate of Clemson University, growing up in Florence S. C. He excelled at gardening and home improvements. A funeral Mass was held at Saint Gabriel Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Jimmy Adams officiating. Survivors include his wife, Pat Coughlin Morten, Fayetteville; daughters, Amy, age six, and Kelly, age three; and sisters, Marilyn Morten, Washington, C. D., and Linda Morten, Greenville, S. C. Mundy, 45, Peachtree City, died Aug. 24, 2004. He was born Sept. 26, 1958 in Lake County, Ind. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was President of Operations of Newell Recycling Company for 13 years. Graveside services were at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include his wife, Laureen A. Mundy, Peachtree City; children, Chasity and Eric Manning, Fayetteville, Petty Officer 3rd Class, Daniel Mundy, deployed in Persian Gulf aboard the USS Kitty Hawk, and Keith Raymond Mundy, Peachtree City; a grandson, Daniel Raymond Manning, Fayetteville; mother, Edith Mundy, Senoia; brothers, Larry Reagor, and Randy Mundy, Senoia, Lonnie Reagor, Woodward, Okla., Ron and Sue Mundy; a sister, Cindy and Steve Stepherson, Val Paraiso, Ind.; and a nephew, Joshua Doughty, Senoia. Willodean Hulgan Henderson Willodean Hulgan Henderson, 72, Griffin, died Aug. 25, 2004. She was born July 20, 1932 in DeKalb County, Ga. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Frank Strickland officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include her husband, Hoyt Henderson, Griffin; sons, Don and Michelle Henderson, Griffin, and Robert and Patsy Henderson, Franklin; daughters, Pat and Gene Miller, Connie Harbin, Barbara and Kenneth Crews, and Tammy Henderson, all of Griffin, and Anita and Gene Meyer, Fayetteville; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three sisters. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge. Marbrey Lee Rogers Jr. Marbrey Lee Rogers Jr., 69, Prescott Valley, Ariz., died Aug. 18, 2004. He was born Oct. 25, 1934 in Atlanta, and was reared in Fayette County. He was the son of Marbrey and Elizabeth Hill Rogers Sr. He served in the United States Army for three years. Services were at the First Baptist Church, Prescott, Ariz., with interment at Mountain View Cemetery, Prescott. Survivors include his wife, whom he married in 1963, Nancy Meyer Rogers, Prescott Valley; sons, John Rogers, Silver Spring, Md., and Thomas Rogers, Albany, N. Y.: daughters, Jennifer R. Cottrill, Terciera, Portugal, and Becki Rogers, Johnson City, N.Y.; granddaughters, Kaitlyn Cottrill, and Ariana Cottrill; and a sister, Beverly R. Bryant, Fayetteville. Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Walter Alvin Garrett Walter Alvin Garrett, 78, Fayetteville, died Aug. 29, 2004. He was born Dec. 2, 1925 in Fulton County. Services are today at the Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home chapel at 2 p.m., with Pastor Chuck Kitchens officiating. Interment will be at College Park Cemetery. Survivors include children, James and Judy Garrett, Fayetteville, Alan and Jessie Garrett, Jonesboro, Jeff and Debbie Garrett, Newnan, and Carron and Dan Masson, Hampton; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
