CCSU Women's Forum to host Ronda RichClayton College & State University's Women's Forum will begin its third year Women's Forum Luncheon with Citizen columnist Ronda Rich, an award-winning journalist, syndicated humor columnist and best-selling author. Rich, one of the first female writers to win top Associated Press honors as a sports writer on the NASCAR circuit, will release her third book, What Southern Women Know About Flirting, in February. She first emerged on the scene when the New York publishing world erupted in a six-figure bidding war over her debut book, What Southern Women Know (That Every Woman Should), now in its 19th printing. A native of Gainesville, Rich now writes a syndicated humor column, Dixie Divas, in between her numerous speaking and public engagements. She has appeared on dozens of television shows, including The View, where she was interviewed by Barbara Walters, and The Other Half, where she was interviewed by Dick Clark. The Clayton State Women's Forum is rapidly becoming a popular venue for exceptional women and speakers. Last year, the Forum featured such notable personalities as Jovita Moore, weekend news anchor for Channel 2 Action News; Valencia Seay, Georgia State House representative; Evelyn Gibson Lowery, wife of civil rights leader the Rev. Joseph E. Lowery; and Harriet Hessam, chief executive officer of the Girl Scout Council of Northwest Georgia. Among other noteworthy events, the Women's Forum sponsors an annual Silent Auction, scheduled this year for Oct. 19 in Clayton States new University Center commons area. The Women's Forum uses a portion of the proceeds from this fundraising event each year to help build the Women's Forum Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships yearly to qualified students and staff members. Clayton State Women's Forum goal is to promote the educational, career and scholarship development activities of women through programming, mentoring, and advocacy. Forum membership is open to all employees at Clayton State including male colleagues and student assistants.
