OLM player stable after severe injuryMatt Sanchez, a sophomore running back and defensive back for the Our Lady of Mercy Bobcats was severely injured in Friday nights game against Pacelli. Sanchez broke his fifth vertebrae in a collision with a Pacelli player. He underwent surgery on Sunday morning and is stable at the moment. Doctors will have a better idea of how well he will recover after the swelling goes down. Sanchez is currently at the Shepherd Spinal Center in Atlanta. Dr. George Paul, Principal of Our Lady of Mercy, asks everyone to keep Matt in their prayers. The school will hold a Mass of Thanksgiving for his recovery at the school on Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. The public is invited. There will also be a fund established for Sanchez and anyone who would like to contribute should send donations to the school in his name. The address of the school is 861 Highway 279, Fairburn, Ga. 30213.
