LDS church seeks help making kits for newbornsThe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, White Water Ward, is seeking community help and assistance with an effort to make newborn kits to be sent overseas to war torn and deprived areas to be used by new mothers in those areas. Donations of money or supplies will be accepted. The goal is to make 100 kits. Kits will be collected Wednesday, Sept. 8, from 7-8 p.m. at the church, 2021 Redwine Rd. in Fayetteville. Each kit will include one double receiving blanket, 36-45 inches square; four cloth diapers (disposable diapers are not accepted); four diaper safety pins; one pair of booties or baby socks; two regular size bars of Ivory soap; and one newborn layette gown (no footed sleepers no snaps, strings, buttons or zippers). The church will furnish free patterns for booties, diapers and layette items, for those who wish to make them. Kits will be assembled Thursday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m. when the church will be open to the public. For more information on the project, call Denise Purdy, 770-487-3298, or Sheila Ortiz, 678-817-7894.
