Tourism Association taps new executive directorThe Peachtree City Tourism Association, Inc., recently named Linda McCarthy of Diamondhead, Miss., as the Executive Director for the organization. Her duties will include overseeing the management of the Peachtree City Tennis Center and the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater, as well as developing additional tourism-related events for the city, including additional festivals and possibly a dinner theater program. McCarthy holds a B.S. in communications from the University of Southern Mississippi, and is a graduate of IAMM Oglebay Facility Management School in Wheeling, W.V. Her experience includes serving as executive director of the Houma Civic Center in Houma, La., which included marketing, operations, finances, and bookings for major event contracts such as concerts, annual Broadway series, performing arts, conventions, sporting events, festivals, and trade shows. Prior to her work with Houma, McCarthy served as Sector Coordinator for Mens and Womens Indoor Volleyball in the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, and as Director of Marketing for the Greensboro, N.C., Coliseum and Convention Center. We are very excited to have someone with Linda's background and experience, and think all of Peachtree City will benefit from her knowledge, said Tourism Association Chairman Steve Rapson. We welcome her to the community. Among the things that attracted McCarthy to the position were the opportunity to develop new events to showcase Peachtree City, such as fairs and festivals, and to also market Peachtree Citys amenities on a local, regional and national level. McCarthy added that she is looking forward to becoming a permanent resident of a community committed to the quality of life for its citizens. McCarthy will offically start Sept. 13.
