Flat Rock Church
celebrates 150 years
The Flat Rock A.M.E. Church is holding its sesquicentennial today, marking
150 years of serving the Lord and its community.
Services are at 11 a.m., with dinner on the grounds afterwards, and then
another service at 3 p.m.
The church has been located at two other places, but all within two miles
of each other. It has gone from the name of Rock Mountain, Scuttlefield and
now Flat Rock African Methodist Episcopal Church.
It is located on Old Chappell Road behind the United States Post Office
sorting building on Highway 54.
