Senoia sewer lines near completionBy the middle of October, Senoias municipal sewer system should be up and running. Mayor Robert Hannah said the system is nearly 80 percent complete and only three lines remain to be finished. So far, the residents have been pleased with the lines that are online, and Hannah believes the sewer system will be the keys to the citys future. Residents have 90 days to hook up to the system without paying a tap fee. The city is running the line in front of residents homes, and the owners have to pay for the extension of the line to the house. We have recommended some contractors to the residents and recommending they get three bids for the projects, the mayor said. One of the main problems residents have complained about during the lengthy construction has been the destruction to the landscape. But Hannah said help is soon on the way. After all the lines become active, were still looking at about six months of cleanup, he said. The $8.5 million dollar system is under budget, so hannah said some of the excess funds will be used for landscaping. The system is expected to accommodate the citys explosive growth which is expected to add an additional 1,200-1,300 homes to the city. |
