Christs Church at Whitewater adds three new staff membersChrists Church at Whitewater has announced the addition of three new staff members: Chris Herget, minister of outreach and missions; Tina Parker; childrens minister; and Tony Marr, youth/student minister. Herget will oversee the development of a local outreach team and also will coordinate the churchs global missions emphasis, which includes communication with missionaries who are serving worldwide as well as overseeing mission impact teams who will travel to various countries to provide assistance. Herget was graduated from Florida Christian College in 1984 with a degree in Christian education. She and her husband, Wayne, were married that same year. In June of 1984, they left the U.S. to work with Waynes family in Haiti. During their eight years in Haiti as part of Christianville, the mission founded by the Herget family, she worked in the area of childrens and ladies Bible activities. Tina Parker has been a member of Christs Church for the last ten years, and, she not only has been involved in the childrens ministry, but also in other areas, including the worship choir, praise team, youth ministry, and womens ministry. She has been an elementary school teacher in Coweta County for the last six years and was named Teacher of the Year at Eastside Elementary in Senoia in 2001. Parker was graduated from Atlanta Christian College in 1992 with a bachelor of science degree in early childhood education. She served as the youth director at Rincon First Christian Church, her home church, in Rincon, Ga., for two years before returning to teach elementary school. Tony Marr last served as the student ministries pastor at The Crossing, a Christian Church, in Las Vegas. Prior to that, he was a student ministry intern at First Christian Church of Johnson City, Tenn., where he was under the direction of Kenny White. Marr was graduated from Milligan College in May 2000 with a degree in communications and a Bible minor. He and Rebecca have a two-year-old daughter, Jocelyn. Christs Church at Whitewater is on GA Highway 85 South in Fayetteville, approximately 4.5 miles south of the courthouse.
