Gingrich delivers message from ZellBy JOHN THOMPSON
Before a cheering crowd of Dylan Glenn supporters, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich said Senator Zell Miller was also watching the Eighth District Congressional Republican race closely. Gingrich, who had earlier endorsed Glenn in his race against Lynn Westmoreland, appeared Thursday night at the Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center in Peachtree City. Gingrich said Miller was disturbed by some of the commercials he had seen recently for the race. Miller said voters should make their decision on facts and not attacks, Gingrich said. The last week before the runoff has seen some big politicos endorse Glenn. Earlier, former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Jack Kemp had thrown his support to Glenns corner. Ive not gotten involved in many races, but every now and then you see somebody who has the tenacity to change the world, Gingrich said. The former Speaker said this race was all about the future for the districts children and grandchildren and urged residents to get out and vote Tuesday. Gingrich was also amused that many of the Atlanta media questioned why he was getting involved in this race. I was born in this district and the formation of the Republican Party was born in this district, he said.
