New interactive reports make it easier for parents to learn about school progressWhen the Georgia Department of Education releases Adequate Yearly Progress determinations for all public schools and systems later this month, parents will find it much easier to make sense of the results. Thanks to a newly created interactive Web page, parents will have the ability to log on and search through user friendly AYP reports showing statewide, system wide, and individual school results. The information is clearly displayed and much easier to understand than the reports of the past. Although official AYP determinations will not be released until the end of the month, a demonstration site is now available at www.gadoe.org.ÊUsers will be able to log on and click through a report showing the results for a fictitious school. The demo site will help prepare the public for what will be presented online when the official reports are released later this month. We have an obligation to make it as easy as possible for the public to access and understand these results, said State Superintendent of Schools Kathy Cox. The new online reports will help take the mystery out of AYP for everyone interested in Georgias public schools. The Georgia Department of Education Web site also features updated information on Public School Choice, Supplemental Educational Services (free tutoring), awards and consequences for Needs Improvement schools, and Unsafe School Choice Option. This information, and much more, can be found at www.gadoe.org. |
