Fairburn in no hurry to hire new police chiefFor the time being, the Fairburn Police Department is functioning very nicely according to City Administrator Jim Williams. The city is still reviewing applications to fill the position of Police Chief after accepting the resignation of former Chief Frederick Brown earlier this year The police department is working as a team to handle their workload, Williams added. Morale is up, Williams said. The temporary situation has given the department a chance to try new ideas and take suggestions from other members of its staff. We are working on a set of performance standards for the next chief to follow, Williams pointed out. The city administrator said the city is taking their time to ensure that a good replacement is found to head up the citys police staff. So far, the city has received about 20 applications for the position. It will be at least six months before any decision is made to hire someone, Williams added. |
