Airport Authority focusing on future at retreat starting todayThe Peachtree City Airport Authority will meet today and tomorrow in a retreat focusing on future planning and key issues that will face Falcon Field in the coming months and years. One item the authority is likely to discuss is its capital improvements projects. Until last month, the authoritys hotel-motel tax revenue, about $10,000 a month,Êwas being withheld by the city due to a legal technicality with how the funds were disbursed. The hotel-motel tax revenues have specifically been used for capital improvement projects at the airport, and a number of projects were put on hold while the hotel-motel tax money was in a holding pattern, sometimes with no idea when the payments might again land in the authoritys accounts. The payments have resumed again now that the authority signed an agreement with the citys tourism association, which is acting as the pass-through agency, receiving the money from the city and then passing it along to the airport authority. During the retreat, which runs from 3-7 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to noon tomorrow, authority members will also share their ideas for what direction the airport should be headed. Saturdays session will focus on identifying key issues that will need to be addressed and preparing time lines and a list of tasks to be completed. |
