Buick Scramble set for FridayThe Buick Scramble, entering its third decade as the worlds largest amateur golf tournament, is scheduled to host a local championship at Palmer Course at Starrs Mill Friday, Aug. 6. Open to the public, four-person teams with certified USGA handicap indexes are eligible to compete in the Buick Scramble Local Championship at Palmer Course at Starrs Mill. Taking place with a 1 p.m. shotgun start, interested teams can sign up for the local championship at the golf shop through 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5. Entry fees for the tournament are $55 per player. The entry fee includes cart, green fees and a variety of Buick Scramble tee-gifts and incentives, including a dozen Nike golf balls and a redeemable Buick Scramble test-drive certificate. Winning teams from the local championship at Palmer Course at Starrs Mill will advance to compete in the Buick Scramble Georgia PGA Sectional Championships in August. Two winning teams from each PGA Sectional will advance to the Buick Scramble National Championships in Orlando. Sanctioned by the PGA of America, the Buick Scramble is the worlds largest amateur golf tournament, hosting more than 1,600 local championships nationwide annually. Local winners advance to one of 104 PGA Sectional Championships, with those winning teams advancing to the Buick Scramble National Championships.
