Racing series enters final weekBy MICHAEL BOYLAN Local drivers peppered the results in many of the racing divisions at Atlanta Motor Speedways Thursday Thunder racing series last week. This Thursday will be the final week of racing in the series and the championships are still up in the air for some of the divisions. In what has been one of the most competitive divisions this year, Fayettevilles Trey Maughan placed third in the Outlaws race last week, trailing Senoias Tina Johnson in the standings by one point. Their race next week should be one for the ages. Two Fayetteville drivers, Micah Willis and Gene Redahan, performed well in the Chargers race. Willis finished in sixth place and Redahan placed 11th. Fayettevilles Bre Sharp took fourth in the Young Guns race, while Peachtree Citys Ed Clark placed fifth in Roadsters and 11th in Masters. This week will be the season finale but it will also be Papa Johns Fan Appreciation night presented by 96 Rock. The first 1,500 fans through the gate will receive a free goody bag, and the prize closet will be emptied during the final night of racing. Tickets for Thursday Thunder are just $5 for adults, $1 for children 6-11, and children under 5 are free. Parking is free. Spectator gates open at 6 p.m. with preliminary action beginning immediately. Feature racing begins at 7 p.m. and concludes by 10 p.m. For more information about Thursday Thunder, call 770-946-4211 or visit www.atlantamotorspeedway.com.
