Greek Orthodox church sets special services

The Greek Orthodox Mission of Peachtree City will begin its Lenten Fast for the Falling Asleep of the Theotokos by celebrating services which will continue through the Eve of the Feast on Saturday, Aug.14. Services will be held at the Fayette Family YMCA on Huiett Rd at Ga. Hwy. 54 as follows: Paraklesis Services Thursday, Aug. 5 , Feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord with Orthros at 6 p.m., Divine Liturgy at 7 p.m., and a coffee fellowship following. Whitewater Baptist plans homecoming

Whitewater Baptist Church, the oldest church in Fayette County, will celebrate its 181st homecoming Sunday, Aug. 8. Past pastors and their families, old friends and new friends — all are welcome to attend. Sunday school is at 9:45 and morning worship is at 11 a.m. A covered dish dinner in the fellowship hall will be held after the service and a special singing service in the sanctuary, featuring the Fenley Family Singers and the Jordans, will follow the dinner.

ESL classes offered at Body of Christ Church

The Body of Christ Church International, U.S.A., will offer free classes in English as a second language beginning Wednesday, Aug. 11 from 6:15-7:15 p.m. All persons ages 13 years and older are invited to attend. PTC Christian changes Sunday schedule

The Peachtree City Christian Church has announced a change in its Sunday morning worship schedule beginning Aug. 15. Worship times will be changed to 10 a.m. for the traditional service and 11:15 a.m. for the contemporary service Children’s programs will be available during both services. Adult Bible Fellowship times will be at 9, 10 and 11:15 a.m. The Church is at 500 Kedron Drive in Peachtree City, just off Ga. Hwy. 74. Providence UMC to begin Purpose Driven series

Providence United Methodist Church will offer a series of sermons based on Rick Warren’s best seller, The Purpose Driven Life, beginning Sunday, Aug. 15. The sermons will be featured at all three services — the 9 a.m and 11:11 a.m. traditional service and 10 a.m. contemporary service. The series will continue through Oct. 3. Isbell starts Christian newsletter in Fayette

Jason Isbell of Peachtree City recently announced the publication of a newsletter for Christians. The newsletter, titled “Faith to Move Mountains,” is designed “to provide a means of sharing for all people interested in the power of God through total surrender to Him and His will.” Isbell is longtime resident of Peachtree City and a member of a local church.
