Appeals Court candidate organizes youth campaignMike Sheffield, a candidate in the runoff for the State Court of Appeals, has announced that students from around Georgia have volunteered to work a full week for his campaign effort.ÊStudents will distribute thousands of flyers, wave signs, and even wash windshields to promote Sheffields candidacy. Student teams were a key factor in his narrow defeat of Howard Mead during the primary.ÊOver 50 students walked door-to-door giving out over 22,000 pieces of literature.ÊThey waved signs from street corners on Buford Drive, Peachtree Industrial Blvd, and Peachtree Parkway. Sheffield won be a mere 382 votes from a total of over one million votes. The Christian Coalition questionnaire allowed voters to see the way I feel personally about important social issues such as marriage being between one man and one woman, said Sheffied. Voters deserve that.ÊNo other candidate in my race even filled the questionnaire out.ÊWith the help of my student team, people found out that I am really serious about serving the state of Georgia as the next Appeals Court Judge. Sheffield kicks off a bus tour Friday on the Mitchell Street sidewalk in front of the Appeals Court.ÊFrom there, he and his team will visit Fayetteville, Peachtree City, Newnan, Carrollton and Douglasville waving signs and meeting voters before returning to the public television debate later Friday evening. Very encouraged after his second-place finish being outspent almost 15 to 1 by Howard Mead, Sheffield said, The people in Georgia want to know what they are getting in a judge, and they deserve to, said Sheffied, who is encouraged by his primary finish after being outspent almost 15-1 by Mead. I am very optimistic about winning this important seat.
