New consignment store ready for back to school shoppingThree years ago, the owners of Peachtree Citys Star Light, Star Bright envisioned a childrens consignment clothing store offering just like new clothing, accessories and furniture at well below retail prices and the shopping experience of an upscale childrens store. Since then, the store has more than tripled consigners and customers. Earlier this year the owners moved the store to a larger location and designed a shopping environment that showcases boutique brands like Lili Pulitzer along with more traditional childrens clothing lines. The key to Star Light, Star Brights success beyond offering clothing that looks like new for one-third the price is a merchandising approach that creates features for specific clothing lines and merchandise types. Theres a Limited, Too feature corner, a Dress Up corner, even a toy unit created to look like a giant doll house. The stores displays center around the seasons and themes based upon the merchandise thats available. Because approximately 1,000 items are put on the sales floor each week the displays are constantly changing. We keep our displays flexible because the store not only offers clothing but accessories and furniture as well and our inventory changes every day. In fact, many of our customers stop in a couple of times a week so that they can make sure they get the newest items before theyre gone, says Nicole Eisele, the stores merchandising manager. On July 19, the company opened CHAIN REACTION, a version of their concept that targets teen fashion. CHAIN REACTION is a natural extension of our upscale resale concept, says Sue DeVos, one of the owners, Many of our customers children were growing out of Star Light, Star Bright, and we wanted to offer the same shopping value in a store geared more to them. CHAIN REACTION has the look of a warehouse loft with an exposed concrete floor, black and white photography and galvanized steel dressing rooms. The contemporary decor is the backdrop for innovative clothing displays. Open just one week, the store already has over 100 consignors and thousands of just like new and new clothing and accessories items from designers that are popular with teens, all selling at well below retail prices. We were able to get the store open just in time for back-to-school, says Eisele, who managed the renovation, It was a lot of work, but we feel that weve created a store thats really unique in Peachtree City. Star Light, Star Bright and CHAIN REACTION are open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and accept consignments on those days from 10:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The stores are located at Peachtree Crossings East in Peachtree City.
