Running club announces scholarshipsThe Peachtree City Running Club has announced its 2004 Ronnie Godwin Scholarship winners. Sixteen college freshmen, equally divided between men and women, and from all four Fayette County High Schools, have received these prestigious awards. The award, named after former PTC Running Club president, Ronnie Godwin, recognizes local athletes who plan to continue either Track and Field or Cross County running in college. The winners are; from McIntosh - Alexandra Huguelet, Clint Adams, Ryan Downey and Tiffany Grant; from Starrs Mill - Alyssa LaRocca, Jeannine Guertin, Sankar Sridaran and David Woods; from Fayetteville - David Dalton, Katherine Gaspierik, Brandon Antoine Truesdale and Adedamola Osilaja and from Sandy Creek - Thomas Whitley, Catherine Henry, Yolanda Mitchell, and Nathan Horne.Funds for these scholarships are raised through sponsorships and registration fees at the annual Peachtree City Classic Road Race. This years event will, for the first time, will also host the PTC Fitness Challenge, a contest between PTC Companies and Organizations to find the Most Fit Companies, Organizations, and Churches in Peachtree City. This years run is Oct. 16. |
