Recount confirms Ballards victoryIts official. Officials at the Fayette County Board of Elections and the Secretary of States office confirmed Thursday that Scott Ballard will be the new district attorney for the Griffin Judicial Circuit. Current District Attorney Bill McBroom had asked for a recount in the election, which saw him lose by just over 100 votes. The final vote totals showed Ballard garnering 13,108 votes, while McBroom finished a close second with 12,966 votes. When the recount was done, Ballard had picked up one vote in Fayette County. Locally, Ballard received 10,151 votes in Fayette County to McBrooms 5,707. The Griffin Judicial Circuit covers Fayette, Spalding, Pike and Upson counties.
