AMS racing series nearing finish line

Once again, the Outlaws race at Thursday Thunder at Atlanta Motor Sppedway featured some of the best racing action between area drivers. Senoia’s Tina Johnson captured first place, while Fayetteville’s Trey Maughan took fourth and Vince Ponder of Brooks placed sixth. Other area racers who did well were Fayetteville’s Gene Redahan and Micah Willis, who placed ninth and 11th in the Chargers race, and Bre Sharp, also from Fayetteville, who finished eighth in the Young Guns race.

This week’s Thursday thunder will feature the Mid-State RV Faster Pastor night presented by J93 (Atlanta) and FM 99 (Macon). Don’t miss the Faster Pastor race, which will feature three area preachers during the intermission race of the next week’s Thursday Thunder. Fans are reminded to bring canned goods to be donated to food pantry of each preacher’s choice. There are two weeks of racing remaining and the drivers are jockeying to finish at the top of their division.

Tickets for Thursday Thunder are just $5 for adults, $1 for children 6-11, and children under 5 are free. Parking is free. Spectator gates open at 6 p.m. with preliminary action beginning immediately.
