Club looking for fittest businesses in townThe Peachtree City Running Club will host an organizational meeting for all PTC companies and organizations that are interested in participating in the First PTC Fitness Challenge. The meeting will be Tuesday, Aug. 3, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Peachtree City Library in the large meeting room downstairs. The PTC Fitness Challenge will be a team competition challenging all companies, organizations and even churches to participate in the 23rd Annual Peachtree Classic Road Race on Oct. 16. Teams will compete in seven different division. Organizations with the highest percentage of their employees or members finishing either of the 5K races or the 15K race, will be recognized at the Oct. 18 PTC Recreation Commission meeting as the Most Fit Company, Organization, or Church in Peachtree City. Employees working in PTC locations will be eligible in the corporate, nonprofit and government divisions, and church members will be eligible in the Church division. To date over 100 companies, organizations and churches have been contacted about participating and over 3,000 runners and walkers are expected for this very popular race said club president George Martin. Information on training programs, awards, sign up procedures and other details will be explained at the meeting. All finishers will receive a much sought after Peachtree Classic sweatshirt and also will be eligible to win many door prizes, including two free tickets on AirTran to anywhere AirTran flies.
