Lightning schedules campsThe AFC Lightning Soccer Club will hold team camps the week of July 25 -29 for their Under 15 through Under 18 teams. The camps will be held at McCurry Park to kick-off training for the fall season of soccer. In order to provide the best training possible to the Lightning players, a full slate of guest coaches will be on hand to handle a number of the sessions. These include Kon Momeni from Coastal Carolina, Todd Calabrese from Clemson, Mark Berson from Univ. of South Carolina, Brett Teach from Auburn Univ. Montgomery, Jay Entlich from Columbus State, Dominic Martelli from Georgia State, Grant Serafy from Mercer, and Jacob Daniel State Director of Coaching for Georgia. The AFC Lightning Soccer Club is also accepting additional registrations for their Academy Program for Under 10, 11, and 12 year old players, both boys and girls. There are also positions available on Under 13 boys, Under 16 girls, Under 16 boys, and Under 18 girls teams. With six full-time coaches, Lightning Soccer has the largest professional coaching staff in Georgia as well as a full-time Executive Director. The Club has produced two first round MLS draft picks and won the first National Championship for a Georgia youth soccer team. It is one of a few Adidas Clubs in the United States and one of only 40 Gatorade Clubs nationally.
