Sewer system replacement project beginsThe Public Works Department has begun a year-long project to replace the sewer system in the Lantern Lane area in South Fulton. The project, costing approximately $1.5 million, will increase sewer capacity and efficiency in this community.Ê Construction will be limited to utility easements and streets. The following streets will be affected: Crestwood Circle, Middleburgh Drive, Carriage Lane, Carriage Court, Old Spanish Trail, Colina Court and Lantern Lane. If necessary, marked detours will be established in these neighborhoods for drivers. Area homeowners have been notified by mail about this project. One technique to be used in the sewer replacement is pipe bursting, a technique that may cause minor ground vibrations in the immediate work vicinity, but will not interrupt sewer service. Pipe bursting is accomplished by pulling a metal bar through the sewer line between manholes. As the metal bar moves, it breaks up existing sewer line to allow for a longer sewer line to be installed.Ê For more information on the Lantern Lane Sewer Replacement Project, call Ron Davis at 770-674-3790.
