Advance Auto Parts opens in PalmettoAdvance Auto Parts opened its first store in Palmetto last week at 9155 Roosevelt Hwy. Company officials cite market conditions, strong growth potential and a large presence of do-it-yourself mechanics or DIYers as factors influencing the companys decision to locate the 7,000 square foot store in the local market. The new store employs 12 team members who offer drivers a variety of free services, including expert advice, electrical system component testing, and battery and wiper blade installation, said Ed Wolski, Advance Auto Parts regional vice president. Shadrick Akins manages the new store. Akins has been with the Advance Auto Parts team for six years and has eight years of experience in the automotive and retail sales industries. The Palmetto store, like every Advance Auto Parts store across the country, is a community recycling center, accepting consumers used oil and used vehicle batteries at no charge. Every used battery or quart of oil we can keep out of landfills benefits our environment, and our community, Wolski added. Since 1991, Advance Auto Parts has recycled more than 26 million gallons of used motor oil collected from its nationwide network of over 2,500 stores. The store carries thousands of parts in its in-store inventory and provides customers with quick access to more than 100,000 parts within 24 hours through the PDQ® (Parts Delivered Quickly) Service. Advance Auto Parts strives to educate motorists on how to keep their vehicles in top running condition through preventive maintenance and awareness to potential problems. But when mechanical problems do arise, the store has the parts and expertise ready to get drivers back on the road. Our people and in-store services guide drivers through the repair process, instead of just providing them with parts and sending them on their way, Wolski added.
