County looking to expand sewer systemCoweta County is hoping an expansion of its sewer system will help lure more industry to the county. County administrator Theron Gay said the county is looking to expand its sewer system on Poplar Road from 900,000 gallons a day to 2 million gallons a day to provide more capacity for industries looking to relocate in Coweta County. The excess capacity would be used for industries that want to locate along the Interstate 85 corridor, he said. Currently, the countys sewer system only services industries in the countys Shenandoah Industrial Park. But in order to expand the countys tax base, the county would like to see more industries locate in the area. This would strictly be for industrial and some commercial use. No residences would tie in to the system, Gay said. The county is currently looking at a major company, Stone Mountain Industrial, that wants to use between 400 and 500 acres to build an industrial park along the I-85 corridor.
