Maughan retakes points lead in AMS seriesOn a night when William Hung brought his song stylings to Atlanta Motor Speedway, the racers in the Thursday Thunder racing series gave the fans a lot to cheer about as well. Among the local racers who performed well were Fayettevilles Trey Maughan who won his second Outlaw race of the year and retook the points lead, Peachtree Citys Ed Clark, third in Roadsters and 10th in Masters, Senoias Tina Johnson, third in Outlaws, Brooks Vince Ponder, fourth in Outlaws, Fayettevilles Gene Redahan, seventh in Chargers and Fayettevilles Bre Sharp, 11th in Young Guns. This weeks racing action will feature Georgia Powers Mascot Mania Night presented by Z93. Some of the most recognizable mascots in Atlanta will be at AMS, including Freddie Falcon, Skyhawk, Papa Johns Pizza Slice, Arbys Oven Mitt, Speedy Beaver and AMS own Monkey Wrench. The mascots will pose for photos, sign autographs and take part in a fun obstacle course race for the fans at intermission. Tickets for Thursday Thunder are just $5 for adults, $1 for children 6-12, and children under 5 are free. Parking is free. Spectator gates open at 6 p.m. with preliminary action beginning immediately.
