Religion BriefsPotential sale of church property to be discussedChrist Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will host an informational meeting Thursday, July 22, at 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The meeting is primarily for homeowners in the Highlands subdivision, and other interested persons, regarding the potential sale of the church property. Christ Our Shepherd is on the corner of Ga. Hwy. 54 and Peachtree Parkway. Grantville offers Saturday gospel singings A free monthly gospel singing is held the fourth Saturday of each month at the old train depot in Grantville. Singing begins at 6 p.m. and features gospel singers from all over the southeast. All in the area are invited to attend. Harps Crossing to host 20 Chinese students As a part of it mission and ministry for the 40 Days of Purpose program, Harps Crossing Baptist Church on Ga. Hwy. 92 South will host 20 Chinese students, ages 14-29, for two weeks, beginning July 26. Antioch Baptist hosts recovery programs Antioch Baptist Church sponsors Christian based 12-Step Recovery Group sessions every Tuesday and Friday night at 6:30 p.m. Antioch is on Brooks Woolsey Road in Fayetteville near the reservoir. Union Grove anniversary event set for Sunday Union Grove Baptist Church in Union City will celebrate its 95th anniversary of service to the community Sunday, July 25, at 3 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Leon Astin of Friendship Baptist church in College Park. The Friendship Baptist congregation also will attend the celebration. All in the area are invited to attend. Union Grove is at 6591 T.A. Senior adults invited to gathering The Senior Adult Ministry at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church invites senior adults in the community to a gathering for coffee, tea and treats Wednesday, July 28, at 10 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. The group will discuss plans for new activities, evening outings, and day and overnight trips. Reservations are requested by Friday, July 23. Olive Baptist Church will have a Health Fair Saturday, July 31, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., featuring Dr. LaVert Robertson, N.D., and staff from 12 noon until 2 p.m. The event will feature blood pressure checks, massages, and information on aroma therapy, holistic healing, PMS and menopause, a cleansing program, diabetes, weightloss, hair, skin, nails and more. New mens Sunday school class starts at Harps A new Open Age Mens Sunday School Class will begin Aug. 15 at Harps Crossing Baptist Church. Fayetteville Christian plans fish fry The Global Outreach Ministry Team at Fayetteville Christian Church and those going on the upcoming mission trip to Mexico in October will sponsor a fund-raising fish fry Aug. 8, following the morning worship service at the church. Proceeds will go toward helping with expenses of building a house for a family in Juarez, Mexico. Sign-up sheets for reservations will be available at the church July 25 and Aug. 1. Kindermusik starts Aug. 16 at FFUMC The Fayetteville First United Methodist Church is now accepting enrollment for its fall Kindermusik program, geared toward toddlers (ages 18 months to 3 years), preschoolers (ages 3-5 years), and young children (ages 4-7 years.). Seniors plan trip to Fernbank The Senior Adult Ministry (SAMs) at Fayetteville Christian Church will travel to Fernbank Thursday, July 29, and will enjoy Ghosts of the Abyss at the IMAX Theatre. Mission Store needs volunteers for Welcompacs The Mission Store is looking for volunteers to help deliver Welcomepacs to people who have recently moved into the county. FFUMC offers cancer support group Fayetteville First United Methodist Church hosts a cancer support group each month for those who have been recently diagnosed or for those who are cancer survivors. Moms Day Out now registering The Moms Day Out program at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church is now registering for fall 2004. Children ages one year to three years are eligible. Classes will begin Aug. 31 and will meet from 9:15 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Tuition is $40 per month for one day a week or $80 per month for two days a week. Senior group meets monthly at FFUMC Titus II, a senior adult group, meets at noon on the first Tuesday of each month in the family Life Center at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church.
