Forgery suspect tries to eat evidenceBy JOHN MUNFORD
After she was put into custody, a forgery suspect arrested by the Fayetteville Police Department last week managed to eat part of the evidence against her: A phony $4,125 check, police said. Iyeshu Barbet Dunnigan, 34, of 4344 Ivy Run, Ellenwood, somehow slipped out of her handcuffs and reached into the front of the patrol car to grab the check after she was arrested Wednesday afternoon, according to court documents. Dunnigan had attempted to purchase a 42-inch plasma television at the Fayette Pavilion Best Buy store, using a fake Virginia identification card, police said. In addition to eating the check, Dunnigan also got the ID card from the front seat of the patrol car and attempted to destroy it, police said. For her efforts with the check and the ID card, Dunnigan was charged with two felony counts of tampering with evidence. She also is charged with felony counts of forgery in the first degree, identity fraud and theft by deception (criminal attempt) in addition to two misdemeanor counts of obstruction of a police officer. |
