Academy for New Home Buyers set for Aug. 7The Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association is hosting the Academy of New Home Buyers, a free class to educate and guide first-time home buyers through the process of buying or building a new home. The class will be Saturday, Aug. 7, from 10 a.m. to noon at the HBA's Housing Center at 1484 Brockett Road in Tucker. "Our goal is to empower new home buyers with knowledge when they decide to build or buy their dream home," said Lori Cowie, director of builder services for the HBA. The Academy of New Home Buyers program is unique in that it breaks down the barriers to new home ownership in metro Atlanta by making the entire process as easy to understand as possible. Potential buyers will gain knowledge from industry leaders explaining the builder selection process, contracts, warranties and the importance of shopping the market. "People are very interested in buying new homes," says Cowie. "However, they don't always know where to find information and can feel overwhelmed by the process. This program allows consumers to feel comfortable and confident in their home buying decision. We want all new home buyers to have a positive experience and this class equips them with the foundation needed to purchase and care for their home." Potential home buyers may register for the class by calling the HBA at 770-938-9900. The class is free, but pre-registration is required for all attendees. Visit our Web site at www.atlantahomebuilders.com for more information about the class and directions to The Housing Center. The Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association is a 4,000-member, not-for-profit trade association affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders and the Home Builders Association of Georgia. The HBA is the largest local home builders association in the nation and is dedicated to promoting, protecting and preserving home ownership by maintaining the housing industry as a viable economic force in the Atlanta area.
