Fludd gains endorsementsState Rep. Virgil Fludd (D-Tyrone), candidate for re-election to Georgia's General Assembly, has gained several key endorsements of late in his Democratic primary bid. Fludd has gained the support of the United Auto Workers, the AFL-CIO, the Service Employees International Union 1985, the Atlanta Labor Council, the Georgia Association of Educators, Georgia Equality, the Sierra Club, and the Georgia Conservation Voters. Fludd's record on the environment earned him the endorsement from both the Sierra Club and the Georgia Conservation Voters. During his first term in the Georgia General Assembly, Fludd received the Georgia Conservation Voters' Environmental Leadership Award in 2004. He co-sponsored legislation to control local timber harvesting. He co-sponsored legislation to prohibit the granting of permits for a municipal solid waste landfill if such a landfill is to be located within three miles of any residence. He also was the guest speaker for the South Fulton "Economics of Green Infastructure" seminar. Fludd is the incumbent candidate in the July 20 Democratic primary for Georgia
House District 66. Fludd has represented the citizens of the newly drawn House
District 66 (formerly House District 48) for the past two years in the Georgia
General Assembly. Fludd serves as secretary of the Georgia General Assembly's
banks and banking committee. He also serves on the administrative services,
education, and natural resources/environment committees. Fludd and his wife
Carolyn live in Tyrone with their two children, Christine and Brendan.
