Buying ice at the grocery store in PTCDrug agents net over 2 pounds of illicit meth drug; two arrested By JOHN MUNFORD
Undercover drug agents for the Fayette County Sheriffs Department seized over 2 pounds of pink crystal meth in a bust at the parking lot of a Peachtree City supermarket last week, police said. Its just one more indicator of the rising popularity of the drug, also known as ice, which is a more pure form of methamphetamine, said Lt. Col. Bruce Jordan of the Fayette County Sheriffs Department. Ice is quickly becoming the drug of choice for addicts hooked on regular methamphetamine, Jordan said. The original deal was for undercover agents to buy 1.5 pounds of the drug for $19,000 in the parking lot of the Kedron Kroger, Jordan said. But after the two suspects were cuffed, deputies found more of the drug hidden under a wheel well of the 1995 Ford Explorer, he added. The two men arrested are Jose Manuel Navarro, 25, of Lilburn and Fernanclo Rivas, 27, of Norcross. They are charged with one felony count each of trafficking in methamphetamine. Authorities also seized $1,000 cash in the operation. The seized drugs had a street value of approximately $40,000, Jordan said.
