World Air gets federal accoladesPeachtree Citys World Airways has received its second consecutive Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Diamond Award for outstanding participation in aircraft maintenance training programs. Two World aviation maintenance technicians (AMTs) also received individual diamond awards for their achievements. The Diamond Award is the FAAs highest maintenance honor, designed to encourage AMT employees and companies to participate actively in initial and recurrent training programs. World had 100 percent participation among its AMTs in 2003, far exceeding the 25 percent required to qualify for the Diamond Award. A total of 105 World AMTs tallied 6,515 hours of training in 2003. This award is recognized in the aviation industry as a symbol of dedication to maintenance training, said Larry Montford, vice president of technical operations. It is a credit to our maintenance reps and to the company. Our team has done an outstanding job in reaching the 100 percent participation level. Individual gold diamond pins were given to Steve Spence and Kevork Zanazanian for their high personal levels of training activity. The individual gold diamond award requires a minimum of 100 hours of training credit during the year.
