Fairburn senior services center relocatesFairburn senior programs and services have been relocated temporarily to the Hapeville Neighborhood Senior Center, effective immediately. The former schoolhouse that housed Fulton County activities for Fairburn seniors at 109 Milo Fisher Street, is closed permanently due to numerous structural problems. The Hapeville Senior Center, located at 527 King Arnold Street next to Master Park, provides the same nutrition, daily living support and outreach services that were offered in Fairburn. Seniors interested in transportation to Hapeville can call that center at 404-762-3660. Design is underway on a new 10,000-square-foot Fairburn Neighborhood Senior Center, to be located at Roosevelt Highway (U.S. 29) and Brooks Drive. Construction is expected to be completed by mid-2006, at a cost of approximately $2 million. District 7 Commissioner William Bill Edwards and the Fulton County Human Services Department, Office of Aging, have met with Fairburn and Hapeville seniors to inform them of the temporary change. Both centers are operated by the Fulton County Office of Aging. Fulton County staff is working hard to ensure our Fairburn and Hapeville seniors continue to receive quality services they deserve, says Commissioner Edwards.
