Fulton's new libraryFulton County Commission Vice Chair Nancy A. Boxill, District 6, will preside over a groundbreaking ceremony for the East Atlanta Library on Saturday, July 10, 2004, at 10 a.m. The new 8,000-square-foot, one-story building will be located at 400 Flat Shoals Avenue. The facility will house a 40,000-item collection, including books, CDs, DVDs, books-on-tape, videos, magazines and newspapers. Other features include 18 computer stations, an exterior plaza for outdoor programs, and a meeting room with 75-seat capacity. The library will also be programmed for wireless technology. Public art will be integrated into the buildings design with community participation. The library will be a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) building. The LEED Green Building Rating System designates green buildings that conform to a national standard for performance and sustainability. The construction company is Newco Construction of America, and Cheeks/Hornbein is the architect. For more information, call 404-730-1811.
