Airport Kiwanis present student awardsThe Airport Area Kiwanis Club presented Most Improved Student Awards in fourteen South Fulton schools during the past several weeks. The award presentations were made during annual end-of-the-year school celebrations. 1st Community Bank co-sponsored the program with the Kiwanis Club. "The Bank is proud to continue its annual support for this important project of the Atlanta Airport Kiwanis Club," said Doug Fields, vice president of the bank. The faculty and staff of each school selected the award recipients. Each recipient received a certificate and a $100 savings bond. The school was also presented a plaque to display in the school for all present and future students to see the names of the honorees. This is the eighth year the Airport Area Kiwanis Club has sponsored these presentations. "Each year we have tried to add more schools and we are pleased to have 1st Community Bank assist us in recognizing these fourteen outstanding South Fulton students," said program chairperson Chris Shellnutt. The recipients for 2004 are: Nolan Sanders, Arlington Christian School; Evan Bloom, Landmark Christian School; Jazman Taylor, Gullatt Elementary School; Montevious Jenkins, S.L. Lewis Elementary School; Christian Hernandez, Campbell Elementary School; Shannon McCloud, Seaborn Lee Elementary School; Carrey Coleman, Palmetto Elementary School; Eric Kerkley, Evoline C. West Elementary School; Garrett Gainey, Woodward Academy; Camisha Printup, Hapeville Elementary School; Kashiana McCullers, Conley Hills Elementary School; Diamond Horward, College Park Elementary School; Elijah Dillahunt, Mount Olive Elementary School; Lukeshon McClure, Love T. Nolan Elementary School. Kiwanis members David Cavender, Jack Cavender, Kathy Barnes, Cindy King, Tracey Wyatt, Chris Shellnutt, Gary Yandura, Scott Whitley, Hugh Austin, Tyler DeLaHunt, Jane Randolph and Ron Gremore participated in presentation programs at the schools. The Kiwanis Club is a worldwide club for community leaders that was founded in 1915. There are over 9,000 Kiwanis Clubs worldwide. The Airport Area Kiwanis Club was chartered in 1940.
