Fuller selected for fellowshipBryony Fuller has been selected for the 2004 Duffey Communications Summer Fellowship program, one of the most prestigious programs in the state. The Peachtree City resident recently graduated from the University of Georgia, where she majored in public relations. Originally from Stoke-on-Trent, England, Fuller and her family have lived in Peachtree City for the last 20 years. Fuller graduated with honors from McIntosh High School, where she was a member of the soccer and cross-country teams. She also played on the Peachtree City Lazers soccer team and has been a member of the Peachtree City Running Club for the last six years. Duffey Communications, based in Atlanta, created the 12-week Fellowship program for top public relations students and recent graduates. The program is part of the firms partnership with UGAs Duffey Communications Public Relations Writing Lab, which was created in 1999. As one of the most recognized and awarded agencies in the country, Duffey provides Fellows with first-class experience and a smooth transition from the classroom to the workplace. In a profession where a college education alone is not enough to be competitive, obtaining experience before graduation is a necessity for young professionals who want to land an entry-level position, said Chief Operating Officer Jenny Duffey. With such a high demand for internship positions, college students must choose their internships wisely. Determine if your summer will be spent on clerical duties or if youll be getting experience that will show a future employer that you can do the job. With more than 100 candidates applying each summer, Duffey Communications chooses its Fellows through a multi-layered application process designed to narrow down the pool of qualified applicants to a select few. After submitting a resume, cover letter, writing samples and an essay application, a handful of Fellowship hopefuls are selected to interview for the position. As the 2004 Duffey Fellow and Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Georgia, Fuller says the Fellowship is an exciting and invaluable opportunity to gain real world agency experience from the best in the business. The Fellowship lets me work as part of the team and pushes me to take on bigger challenges. It offers much more experience than traditional internships, said Fuller.
