Tennis event set for this weekendThe USTA and the International Council on Active Aging has announced that Peachtree City is one of 20 cities across the nation that will host a Welcome Back to Tennis party. The free party is geared toward reintroducing the sport to the 50+ population in a fun and friendly setting, and connecting them to a series of four-week tennis programs to promote healthy lifestyles. The Peachtree City Welcome Back to Tennis party is July 10 from 9 a.m. until noon at the Peachtree City Tennis Center. Space is limited and advance reservations are required. To register for this event, call 1-866-532-2096. Partnering with the ICAA to welcome new and returning players reinforces our mission to promote and develop the growth of tennis, said Kurt Kamperman, Chief Executive, Community Tennis, USTA. This partnership underscores our message that people of all ages and abilities can have fun and stay fit playing tennis. "We are thrilled to offer our members and those over 50 the opportunity to participate in the lifelong game of tennis, said Colin Milner, CEO of the International Council on Active Aging. "By attending one of the Welcome Back to Tennis events, youll quickly remember just how much fun tennis is, and how this social activity also offers an excellent form of exercise." There will be a variety of mini sessions offered at the party on topics such as warm-up and cool down; racquet and footwear selection; tennis demonstrations and more. There will also be equipment giveaways, music, food and beverages, and the opportunity to sign-up for USA Tennis programs. ICAA board member Sandy Coffman, an industry leader in programming and fitness for adults, will help lead activities and share her secrets for having fun, staying healthy and keeping active in tennis for years to come. The ICAA is the worlds largest association dedicated to changing the way we age by uniting and working with professionals in the retirement, assisted living, recreation, fitness, rehabilitation and wellness fields. It connects a community of like-minded professionals who share the goals of changing society's perceptions of aging and improving the quality of life for aging Baby Boomers and older adults within the six dimensions of wellness (emotional, vocational, physical, spiritual, intellectual and social). The council supports these professionals with education, information, resources and tools, so they can achieve optimal success with this growing market. USTA Georgia is the largest state association in the USTA servicing over 57,000 individual members and 200 organizational members. The major focus of this nonprofit organization is to oversee and assist Community Tennis Associations in offering a variety of tennis programs for players of all ages and abilities in every community in Georgia. The volunteers and staff of USTA Georgia are committed to maintaining the organization's leadership role within the USTA in an effort to "promote and develop the growth of tennis" throughout the state.
