Golf cart owners have a new option for showing their school colorsAn Orlando inventor has created a unique golf car accessory that is the first of its kind: patented golf car hubcaps featuring colorful sports team logos on the entire surface of the wheel. John D. Smith, CEO of Clever Covers, Inc. said that unlike a lot of inventors, I decided to manufacture and market my product myself, and I have created a new industry from scratch. Smith said he got his idea after getting caught in a traffic jam. I looked over at the vehicle next to me (a plumbers van) and noticed there was signage everywhere except for the wheels. Surprisingly, no other inventor had thought to patent customizable wheel covers, so I did and now own 3 utility patents. He continues, After perfecting my wheel covers, I decided to target the collegiate sports market for golf cars. Smith reveals an interesting anecdote: In 1997, I asked a NASCAR racecar owner to allow us to speed test a set on his car. The car peaked at 140 mph for 15 laps and our Clever Covers® stayed on the wheels. This successful test on Dale Earnhardts racecar proved that 20 mph on a golf car is no sweat. His company currently sells their Collegiate Golf Car Hubcaps through a network of 90 golf car dealers in eight states. The University of Georgia is our number 1 seller, followed by LSU, Ole Miss & Dale Earnhardt, Jr. He has 20 golf car dealers in the state of Georgia alone, but surprisingly has not been able to find a motivated dealer in Peachtree City. I like the young mans tenacity, but I dont think his product will sell in our store, affirms J.C. Martin, owner of Peachtree City Golf Cars. He is not deterred by this reticence and says it is only a matter of time before sports fans in Peachtree City have Bulldog, Volunteer & Crimson Tide logos on their wheels. Golf car owners get a lot of attention with our collegiate hubcaps, but pioneers take all the arrows, says Smith. For more info, visit www.golfcarhubcaps.com or call 877-253-8371.
