Board continues to reduce school millageThe Fulton County Board of Education has approved millage rates for Fiscal Year 2005 that are 0.450 points lower than in 2004.This millage reduction continues a multi-year trend of tax savings for Fulton County property owners. The school system will levy a total of 17.606 mills this year. The rates reflect a full millage rollback to offset increases in property reassessments, resulting in no school tax increases for property owners. In fact, owners of a $200,000 home will actually see a reduction of $35.11 in their school taxes. This is the 14th consecutive year that the Fulton County Board of Education has lowered or maintained millage rates, dropping from 25.15 mills in the early 1990s to the current 17.606 mills.
